Baby Squid To Orbit Earth Aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour’s Last Flight

STS-134

Baby squids will rocket into space aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour’s last flight, and the penultimate flight of the shuttle program (STS-134 scheduled for tomorrow.) The squid embryos will be onboard thanks to a University of Florida experiment on developmental biology in microgravity. The research team includes university and high school students, and the squid experiment is one of three student experiments that will be aboard the space shuttle as part of the Student Spaceflight Experiment Program.

Go forth to the cosmos, little squid–let your bioluminescent bacteria light the way.
