To visualize the effects of global warming, artist and researcher Nickolay Lamm created photographic renderings of American tourist destinations as they would appear with a 25-foot rise in sea level. To create the renderings, Lamm digitally manipulated stock photos using data from sea level rise maps. The sea level could potentially rise 25 feet in the next few hundred years unless dramatic cuts are made in pollution. Lamm was inspired to create the visualizations by a November 2012 New York Times interactive article on sea level rise. Popular Science converted Lamm’s images into the animated GIFs you see here.
