An Inexpensive But Sturdy DIY Micro-Airstream Camper That Can Be Easily Towed With a Bicycle

Paul Elkins, the maker of many things including the Post-Apocalyptic Bicycle Camper for the 2011 Burning Man festival, has, with just $150, built a sturdy “micro Airstream bike camper” which has all the refinements of a really tiny-home but can be easily towed by a bicycle due to its light weight. According to an interview with Fair Companies, Elkins believes this type of shelter might help ease the financial concerns of many.

It does show the possibilities of a new way to get around and travel or to live. you don’t have car insurance, you don’t have home insurance payments. what do you got, food. …For people who can’t afford a pickup truck and to build a little home on a trailer, maybe they could just do this and tour around… for people who are adventurers and don’t mind pulling a little weight and taking their time traveling, this I think would be a fun way to go.”

Downloadable plans are available for a modest fee through Elkins’ website.
