The California Sunday Magazine and Google Play commissioned New York artist Pablo Delcán to animate an interview with Thumbsucker director Mike Mills about the role California has played in his work, beginning with the skate parks of Santa Barbara.
Skating introduced me to everything. Santa Barbara had a couple of pretty good skate parks, and the competitions drew you down to Los Angeles. That’s where I remember hearing punk rock for the first time.
The series includes interviews with other California natives like Jack Black.
