Musician David Rothenberg and graphic designer Michael Deal have teamed up to produce a lovely piece of brightly colored sheet music that visualizes the unique and complex song of a humpback whale. The ever-evolving calls are synchronized across whale populations through thousands of miles of water, and, as Rothenberg points out, sound quite similar to the familiar song of the nightingale when sped up.
