A Series of Photographs That Captures a Microscopic Look at Crystallized Tears

A series of photographs by Maurice Mikkers titled Imaginarium of Tears takes a microscopic look at crystallized tears harvested from Mikkers’ friends. The project started out with the intention of seeing if the composition of tears would be visually different whether the tears were basal, reflex, or emotional, but Mikkers admits the results are more likely caused by the composition of the tears and the way they crystallized rather than their trigger.

Mikkers wrote about the project in a post on Medium where he also explained that his friends could choose the method by which he would make them cry.
