Funny or Die has created a parody of the final episode of the popular true-crime podcast Serial (previously) one day ahead of the actual episode’s release. The parody stars Michaela Watkins as the show’s host Sarah Koenig as she deals with the pressure of wrapping up the podcast’s first season after its immense success.
Season one of Serial is a 12-part series examining the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee. Lee’s former boyfriend Adnan Syed was convicted of the crime and has been incarcerated since that time, but the podcast has raised doubts about Syed’s guilt. The final episode of the podcast’s first season will be released on December 18, 2014. A second season has been announced after fans of the show donated to fund it, but details about the second story the show will follow have not yet been released.
