Even big cats need a CAT scan every once in a while as evidenced by a lion who needed a bit of medical care at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin, Germany. Luckily, the brand-new Toshiba Aquilion ONE scanner that the institute recently acquired was big enough to accommodate this beautiful “king (or queen) of the jungle.”

The Leibniz Institute for Zoo & Wildlife Research (IZW) in Berlin, Germany, today inaugurates the world’s most advanced state-of-the art computed tomography currently available in veterinary research. The new CT enables fascinating virtual insights into wildlife. It will be possible to display organ movements at a new level of spatial and temporal resolution.
