A Fascinating Short Documentary About Michael Paul Smith, Creator of the Incredibly Convincing ‘Elgin Park’ Dioramas

Photographer Michael Paul Smith (previously) documents a small American town in the 1950s in his photo project Elgin Park. Despite the thoroughly lifelike color photographs, the town of Elgin Park is actually a fictional creation consisting of Smith’s astonishingly realistic 1/24 scale dioramas–and his collection of die cast car models. Smith talks about his life and his photo project in a fascinating short documentary from the Animal creative studio. The project will soon be the subject of Smith’s upcoming book Elgin Park, which releases in June 2015.
