A Fascinating Article on the Project Looking to Make Use of a NASA Spacecraft Effectively Abandoned in 1997

International Cometary Explorer

The New York Times has a fascinating article on the ISEE-3 Reboot Project, a group assembled to try and make some use of the International Cometary Explorer spacecraft effectively abandoned by NASA in 1997 after the space agency officially suspended contact with it. The satellite was initially launched in 1978 as the International Sun/Earth Explorer 3 before being repurposed to study the reaction between solar wind and a cometary atmosphere in 1982.
