A Close-Up Look at the American Museum of Natural History’s Large Collection of Microscopic Foraminifera Fossils

A recent episode of the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) series Shelf Life (previously) takes an up-close look at the museum’s large collection of tiny microscopic fossils of single-celled creatures known as foraminifera. The foraminifera can give a valuable look into the Earth’s past to better understand things like climate change, so the AMNH is working to preserve its collection by rehousing its specimens and digitally scanning them for further study.
