A Chef Spends 12 Hours Recreating ‘The World’s Greatest Sandwich’ From the Movie ‘Spanglish’

Chef and filmmaker Andrew Rea spent 12 hours recreating “The World’s Greatest Sandwich” from the Adam Sandler movie Spanglish in an episode of his series Binging With Babish. The 12 hour timeframe included baking the bread used in the sandwich from scratch.

Spanglish, the movie your aunt refers to as a “must-watch!”, is home to a Thomas Keller-inspired creation known around the internet as “The World’s Greatest Sandwich”. Can such familiar ingredients earn such a prestigious moniker? Let’s find out, and let’s take it one step further: by baking our own rustic country loaf to act as the “bread” for our creation.

In the series, Rea makes iconic food items from film and television like the “Moist Maker” sandwich from Friends and the prison tomato sauce from Goodfellas.
