A Brilliant Cover of The Who’s ‘Pinball Wizard’ With Percussion Provided by an Actual Pinball Machine

In his latest video, Canadian guitarist and songwriter Steve Onotera a.k.a. samuraiguitarist partnered up with vocalist Doug McArthur of Soapbox to perform a brilliant cover of the iconic song “Pinball Wizard” by The Who. McArthur sang, Onotera played guitar (acoustic and electric) and bass and an actual pinball machine appropriately provided the percussion throughout the song. The idea may have come to Onotera in a dream, but more likely from his childhood.

Onotera’s dad is a huge pinball enthusiast – he has a pinball machine workshop in his basement where he repairs and maintains several pinball machines, including the ones seen in the video.

A live version of the song from 1969.
