‘A Billion Gallons a Day’, A Look at New York City’s Complex and Groundbreaking Aqueduct System

“A Billion Gallons a Day,” is a short video by The New York Times examining the unique and complex system of underground water aqueducts that New York City uses to deliver water to its 8.4 million residents.

There isn’t a lot of fresh water on the island of Manhattan, and there wasn’t very much even in the beginning when the Dutch first settled in the southern tip of Manhattan in the early 1600s.
