In honor of the upcoming 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, the Television Academy is offering a behind-the-scenes look at how the iconic award statuette is made. The process hasn’t changed all that much since the late 1930s, with much of the same equipment still in use today.
An Emmy becomes personal once it belongs to somebody. That happens in the engraving department. The information is sent to us from the Television Academy. We produce plates for every single nominee, because nobody knows who’s going to be the final winner.
