Yeah Yeah Yeahs Post Sign at Concert Asking Fans to Put Away Phones & Cameras During Show

Camera and phone sign by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

If you’ve been to a rock concert recently you may have been distracted by the swarm of glowing screens held aloft by audience members. Well, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs feel your pain: at a performance last Sunday at Webster Hall in New York City, the band posted a message to their fans asking them to put their mobile devices and cameras away:

“PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THE SHOW THROUGH A SCREEN ON YOUR SMART DEVICE/CAMERA.

PUT THAT SHIT AWAY as a courtesy to the person behind you and to Nick, Karen and Brian.

MUCH LOVE AND MANY THANKS!

YEAH YEAH YEAHS”

According to SPIN, the concert was almost entirely free of glowing rectangles for the duration of the show.
