Xander the Pug, A Blind Service Dog Who Helps Humans and Animals Alike

Xander the Pug is a very special dog who had a difficult start in life. Injured in an accident when he was a puppy, Xander lost both of his eyes and developed respiratory issues. His injuries led to him being surrendered to the Klamath Animal Shelter in Oregon, who cared for him until he was adopted by Marcie and Rodney Beedy. These days Xander has a new lease on life as a therapy dog to people and animals.

It was a big day for me when I passed the Pet Partners Therapy Dog test and became a Certified Therapy Dog! I am the only four footed member of the Hospital Guild and I’m always on call for visits! I love to spend time with anyone who needs companionship, comfort or may be feeling lonely. I also help kids who are afraid of dogs overcome their fear, and often accompany the Hands and Words are Not for Hurting® group on school programs and other outings.

Keep up to date with Xander through his Facebook page.
