Worldwide Lexicon Firefox Translator

Worldwide Lexicon, a community translation service for websites, has released a cool new Firefox Translator which enables you to view websites in other languages.

The Firefox Universal Translator is a revolutionary new tool that makes browsing foreign language websites as easy as browsing the web today. Once installed, this tool automatically detects foreign language web pages, and will translate them for you. You don’t need to do anything, just open a URL, and if it senses that the page is in another language, it translates it for you.

I couldn’t get it to work on famitsu.com. What a tease.

Just for the heck of it I tried it on famitsu.com and it worked, translating what I estimate to be about 70% (or even more) of the page. Not only that but unlike Google Translate the translation here did no consist of broken English, but intelligible sentences.
Try again.

Having said that I did encounter a problem when attempting to translate from Hebrew to English. It’s not quite there yet but let me remind you that it is still a project in the making that is not officially ready.
I like it, can’t wait to see the final product.

Well done people.

Doesn’t look so cool to me, I’m Spanish and, believe me, the translations of the post in the image really sucks!

“Disney es Marvel compras por $ 4 mil millones de [...]” means -> LOL

The idea of a translation plugin (suposing it to be “new”) is very interesting, but the translation engines are the most important part of the machine…
