Winning a Star Wars Costume Contest by Looking Like George Lucas

In this episode of Pop Culture Memory Lane by Vulture and UCB Comedy, comedian and filmmaker Todd Bieber accounts how he won a Star Wars costume contest dressed up as George Lucas at the opening night premiere of the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Todd only entered the contest due to a bet with his friend and because he kind of looked like a young version of George. After winning (and as the film started), Todd was seen a hero to everyone in the theater but he was quickly seen as a villain after the movie ended. (There must not have been too many fans of the newly introduced character Jar Jar Binks.)

All hopes are dashed at the Phantom Menace premiere.
