"Web2.0 is what we wished we had had back in 1996 and were forced to code in Notepad (by candle light…)"

haha...I had to laugh at this...I couldn't stop imagine the scene of sitting at the computer and looking for the letters from the keyboard.

I'm glad things are brighter now and we can use web 2.0

I've heard something about web 3.0 . Maybe someone can tell me more about this

Web2.0 is what we wished we had had back in 1996 and were forced to code in Notepad (by candle light...)

The technology has finally reached the point where it can enable the vision. Microformats have enabled the dynamic content generation that was limited by technology and bandwidth a decade ago. Remember PointCast?

Creating custom landing pages for multiple individual customers was a significant achievement in 1997, now I can easily <a href="http://www.squidoo.com/referral/sheywood" title="publish a Squidoo Lens" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">publish a Squidoo Lens</a> in well under an hour.

No true Web1.0 seminar would be complete without the hockey stick revenue projections.

Web2.0 could be the ice where these mythical results finally get some play.

[...] Remember when we were in the heat of Web 1.0 and the future was going to be amazing? Couldn’t do it. Why? We were missing a most humble enabler – the data warehouse. My company had almost 30 distinct HRMS platforms and what was trying to pass for an employee data warehouse was just plain busted. I’ve benchmarked with many other enterprises and everyone agrees that the presence and quality of an enterprise directory or data warehouse is the key to all the other goodness.
<strong>The (Vicarious) Web 2.0 Conference Experience</strong>

For those of us unable to attend the Web 2.0 conference in SF last week, bloggers' debriefings are the next best thing. So feel good about the $2800 you saved, and instead read a roundup of the highlights, as seen by one non-attending observer:

[...] Here’s my photoset from last night’s Web 1.0 Summit. I must say, I could definitely feel the paradigm shift last night. I think this event will have major implications for the entire enterprise, not to mention B to B and and B to C vertical penetration. Merlin helped us drill down through the layers of all this emerging technology and how it will help us monetize the eyeballs (ok, everyone Drink!). I think we’re all on the same page now. Hey, where did those VC’s run off to? Oh wait, I remember them mentioning something about going to a party being thrown by this new startup called Google. I heard that they have free booze there! tags: events, photos, sanfrancisco, houseofshields, web1.0, web2.0 – posted by Scott Beale on Thursday, October 6th, 2005 Comments RSS feed | Trackback URL [...]

[...] Not to confuse you too much about all of those Web X.X events going on this week, but another one you should definitely check out is Web 2.1: A BrainJam for the rest of us. This event is the brainchild of Chris Heuer, who was initially inspired by a conversation with Ted Rheingold at Webzine 2005 and Ted’s subsequent blog post on the Internet 37 Conference, his take on the Web 2.0 Conference. Web 2.1 takes further inpiration from the success of the numerous unconferences that have been happening lately: A BrainJam is a new type of event (inspired by BarCamp, Gnomedex, TechCrunch BBQ and WebZine 2005) that brings people from diverse backgrounds together to focus on a few key questions, sharing knowledge, collaborating, solving problems, demonstrating cool tools, networking and hopefully making the world a better place while having fun. You only need to bring your mind, your past experience, some new Insytes and something for note taking. The event coordinators supply you with a general direction for the conversation, WiFi access, some collaboration tools and an opportunity to create magic. [...]
