The European sport of water jousting (or boat jousting) involves two individuals holding lances while standing on a platform on the stern of a boat. Much like its terrestrial counterpart, the object is to knock your opponent off the platform as the two boats approach one another. The sport, which is most popular in France, Germany and Switzerland, has been practiced in some form at least since the days of Ancient Egypt.
