While in Los Angeles I shot a few photos of the notoriously funky Venice Beach Boardwalk and the Public Art Walls, where painting is only allowed by permit.

I proposed to my wife at those walls! I arranged ahead of time with a local artist to paint a mural with the big question, which attracted so much attention that there was a TV crew waiting for us by the time I showed up. (This was back before they started requiring “permits,” in my view a ludicrous policy that defeats the entire purpose of a place where graffiti is allowed).

Given that I had an unexpected audience I was even happier that she said yes. I uploaded the TV clip to YouTube.
