Time-Lapse of a Soviet Era Plant Receiving a Colorful New Paint Job

Russian photographer Sasha Aleksandrov shot an outstanding time-lapse of the colorful repainting of the Pervouralsky Novotrubny Works, a sprawling Soviet-era pipe manufacturing plant in Pervouralsk, Russia. Amazingly, Aleksandrov achieved the camera movement in the time-lapses manually by moving the camera and tripod between each shot (to ensure steady movement, he measured the distance with his foot).

Two hundred tons of paint were used to repaint the plant’s buildings, chimneys, and piping (see a Russian news article on the plant and photographer Ilya Ivanov’s photo gallery of the new paint job.
