The built-in automatic upgrade plugin for WordPress 2.5 stopped working recently. I was told by a tech support guy that it’s because I installed and activated the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin. He suggested I deactivate the plugin. I did this, but the automatic plugin upgrade feature still does not work.

Anyone else have this experience? Suggestions?

I hope automattic makes their own ‘WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin’ someday. It makes headache to me everytime WordPress get upgraded, i have to upgrade my WordPress

Just tried it to upgrade from wordpress 1.5.2 on your servers and got “Could not backup your WordPress files. Failed at Step 1.”

You can also use subversion to update wordpress. When you need to upgrade, just type in a single svn switch command to upgrade to the desired branch.

It doesn’t touch your templates… but if the underlying WordPress software changes, you might need to update your template.
