In 2015, 20-year old Tanner Brownlee of Greeley, Colorado became aware that the squad car that once belonged to his father, a Weld County Deputy killed in the line of duty, was being sold through auction, he started a GoFundMe page to raise money to bid on the car. Unfortunately, the bidding went far higher than Tanner could afford and finally sold for $60,000. Unbeknownst to Tanner however, the winner of the auction, a local rancher named Steve Wells, didn’t buy the car for himself.
