The Ninebot by Segway miniPRO, A Powerful Cross Between a Segway and a Hoverboard

Segway miniPRO Black and White

The Ninebot by Segway miniPRO is a self-balancing scooter that is a powerful cross between the larger original Segway models and the compact hoverboards that have become increasingly popular recently. The miniPRO replaced the original Segway’s large handlebars with a sleeker control bar held between the knees, and its large air-filled wheels allow for smoother rides than other hoverboards.

The miniPRO has a top speed of 10 mph and can travel up to 14 miles on a full charge. The company has also worked on new safety standards to avoid the overheating and fire issues that have been a problem with other hoverboard models.

Wired had a chance to try one out firsthand and found it to be at least a little cooler than the original Segway design.
