Jon Sarriugarte, Kyrsten Mate, and the rest of their crew have been slaving away building a gorgeous, Jules Verne-esque hot rod snail art car for Burning Man 2008. Here are some photos of The Golden Mean in progress, and if it’s like all the projects they have built before it will be a heck of a thing.

Jon and Kyrsten are known for their creations such as The SS Alpha Fox, Jon’s Zen Fire Gardens, Power Tool Drag Racers, other fire art, and gorgeous furniture.

UPDATE: Lewis Wallace did a story on The Golden Mean for Wired’s Underwire blog.
