The Ghost of CBGB & OMFUG

CBGB & OMFUG

CBGB & OMFUG

So when I was in New York last week I knew I had to stop by and check out the empty shell that once was the great CBGB & OMFUG and CB’s 313 Gallery, both of which closed last October. It’s quite a sad sight.

What I didn’t realize was that CBGB opened shop over on St. Marks Place in the East Village, but as a store only, selling shirts and other CBGB merchandise.

All I can say is that I hope CBGB doesn’t become the next Von Dutch brand.

Sad to see the gate dropped without so much as a mention as to what has occurred there. I guess I am a little sentimental, but people need to be reminded of the past.

One of the worst feelings is missing something you can never go back to. I still can’t bring myself to come to terms with how/why this happened.

Deep sadness there. Great memories. Life goes on.

The closing of CBGB’s is sad. People do need to know their cultural history, that’s for certain.

What I want to know is where the next “CBGB’s” is going to be and what’s going to happen there.
