The Brix System by Swedish designer Love Hultén is a series of modular handcrafted wooden electronic devices modeled after the design of classic LEGO space sets. The series includes a telephone, computers, a vintage game console, waveform music-maker, and more. Each piece is made from ash and acrylic with custom hand-painting at a 6:1 scale to the original LEGO bricks.
Like most people, I was raised by Lego. For this project, I chose to work with a set of decorated bricks from the iconic 79-87 “Legoland Space” line, mainly because of nostalgic reasons. These were bricks that would trigger my imagination as a kid. 25 years have passed, and they still trigger.
