I had a big flash of nostalgia when I saw the recent Breakfast Cereal Gang entry. Back in the sixties, I worked as a writer for Jay Ward Productions (Bullwinkle, although I never actually worked on that particular show). Jay's sponsor was Quaker Oats, and they wanted to develop a new cereal. What would the name and cartoon character be? Jay assigned a team of me and some other people to come up with something. What we ended up with was Captain Crunch.

Later I wrote for "The Monkees" TV show, and we had ANOTHER cereal sponsor, this time Kellogs! Good Grief, what's with all these cereals?!
