Although I agree that crap TV usually trumps genius TV, there is one glaring counter-argument to the above graph. It can be summed up in two words: “The” and “Simpsons.” The longest-running program in television history has certainly had its lesser moments, to be sure, but it’s also provided some of the greatest humor in the history of the medium.
