The Associated Press Is Adding Over a Million Minutes of Historical News Footage to YouTube

Nonprofit new agency The Associated Press and the newsreel archive British Movietone have announced that they will be adding over 100 years of news footage from their archives to their new YouTube channels AP Archive and British Movietone. The footage includes coverage of events that date back to as early as 1895, and totals more than a million minutes from 550,000 video stories including historic moments like Woodstock, the first spacewalk, and the Apollo 11 moon landing.

The two channels will act as a view-on-demand visual encyclopedia, offering a unique perspective on the most significant moments of modern history. Available for all to explore, the channels will also be powerful educational tools and a source of inspiration for history enthusiasts and documentary filmmakers.
