The winter sliding sport known as skeleton is a fairly recent addition to the modern Winter Olympics, having been added again in 2002, and due to the way athletes lay down on their stomachs to compete the helmet has become something of a statement. The helmets used during the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics range from an illustration of a brain to more traditional country-based patterns.
