Tabby Cat Saves Her Human From A Fire that Gutted His House in Melbourne, Australia

A brave tabby cat named Sully saved her human Craig Jeeves from a fire that gutted his suburban Melbourne home in Wandin North, Australia. The heroic cat jumped on Craig’s head and began yowling at him.

“She was standing on my head screaming, the loudest scream I’ve ever heard from a cat screaming at me and then I smelt the smoke and jumped out of bed,” he said. “I don’t think I would have woken up. I’m a pretty deep sleeper. She saved my life”. – Yahoo 7News Australia

Earlier in the summer of 2014, another Melbourne-area tabby had also saved her family from a potential house fire. Tilly the cat had just been adopted by the Clayton family just three weeks prior to the day when she saved the family house from burning down when she alerted her human Matt to the smell of smoke coming from a light fixture in the ceiling.

With his wife already at work and children at school, Matt was leaving his Blackburn home later than normal, but Tilly would not budge. “She was looking up at me and the roof,” Matt told 7News. Matt said he could not smell or see smoke, but Tilly’s persistent purring compelled him to touch the ceiling. “I gave the down-light a gentle tug and smoke came pouring out,” he recalled. – Yahoo 7News Australia
