Swedish 3D Artist Constructs the Fearsome Dragon Smaug From ‘The Hobbit’ Out of Gingerbread

Over the course of two weeks, Swedish 3D artist Caroline Eriksson, based out of Oslo, Norway, constructed an impressive sculpture of Smaug–the fearsome, treasure-hoarding dragon from The Hobbit–out of gingerbread. Eriksson used extra syrup and flour in the dough to create a more dense material capable of supporting the structure.

Last year, she earned first prize in a contest in Norway for her gingerbread sculpture of Optimus Prime from The Transformers franchise.
