Stephen Colbert Announces the Start of Hungry for Power Games at the Republican National Convention

Stephen Colbert appeared at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio as his character Julius Flickerman, the brother of The Hunger Games announcer Caesar Flickerman, to announce the start of the Republican National Hungry for Power Games from the convention’s main stage. Flickerman was quickly escorted off the stage, but not before landing a final dig against Donald Trump.

Look, look. I know I’m not supposed to be up here, but let’s be honest; neither is Donald Trump.

To help explain Trump’s rise in the Republican party, Colbert first turned to friend and former Daily Show host Jon Stewart, but ultimately the only person who could properly explain “Trumpiness” was Colbert’s character of Stephen Colbert, host of The Colbert Report and the return of that show’s popular segment “The Wørd.”

Some footage of Colbert in character as Flickerman on the Republican stage made its way online earlier this week, and Colbert is covering the convention with live episodes all week. Colbert set the tone for his convention coverage early by starting Monday night’s episode with a musical number.
