Performance Writing #6: Alan Glibert and Yedda Morrison

New Langton Arts presents the sixth installment of the Performance
Writing series, with literary artists Alan Gilbert and Yedda
Morrison. Gilbert draws on contemporary poetry, politics, art and
music to explore "the grotesque" in contemporary culture. Morrison
deconstructs our "socialized realities" with collages, surprising
juxtapositions, word plays and staged settings. Langton's Performance
Writing series, curated by Brandon Brown and Jocelyn Saidenberg,
brings multi-disciplinary literary artists to Langton to present
works that explore language in the context of live performance. The
series earned a 2005 "Best of the Bay" award in the San Francisco Bay
Guardian for "Best New Reading Series to Catapult Language off the
Page."

From the East Bay: Take the Bay Bridge to San Francisco (80 West).
Take the Ninth Street Exit, then go straight onto Harrison. Go one
block and turn right at Ninth Street. Go one block and turn right at
Folsom Street. Langton is located half a block down Folsom on the
left side.

From the South Bay: Take Highway 101 North to San Francisco. Take
the Ninth Street Exit. Veer to the left onto Ninth Street (do not
make the sharp left turn as you exit the highway). Go two blocks and
turn right on Folsom Street. Langton is located half a block down
Folsom on the left side.

From the North Bay: Take the Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco
(101 South). Follow 101 South along Lombard and Van Ness. Turn left
on Fell Street. Follow Fell for one block, then cross Market and go
straight on Tenth Street. Go three blocks and turn left on Folsom
Street. Langton is located one and a half blocks down Folsom on the
left side.

Public Transportation
Take MUNI or BART to Civic Center. Walk south on 8th Street past
Mission and Howard and turn right on Folsom.
