THE HYBRID PROJECT: Re-Mixing Classics

One of the city's hottest mixes of dancing, drumming, spoken word,
beatboxing, freestyling and more...The Hybrid Project

presents the newest and freshest in performance today-and invites YOU
to come and participate as well!

Friday, September 30 2005 at 7:30 PM

Led by Resident Artists Tommy Shepherd, Erika Shuch & Dan Wolf, this
seasons first Hybrid Project takes a fresh look at some of our most
recognizable classics.

Featuring:
The first public performance by Lyrics and Lines, a new
multidisciplinary collective that merges film by Elizebeth Chavez,
text and live hip-hop by Gavin Grant & Carlos "Infinite" Aguirre, and
graphic narratives by Manuel Martinez, to retell our most timeless
tales.

Scenes from a new play by Naomi Iizuka that reimagines Shakespeare's
Hamlet in 1980's East Oakland juxtaposed against two scenes from the
original classic.

A new spoken word piece created and performed by students from the
Alternative Theatre Institute, Intersection's educational summer
intensive program

A new theatre piece "The Big Payback" by Dan Wolf and Tommy Shepherd
along with a live DJ giving a reinterpretation to old school funk.
