Webzine 2005
Sat, Sep 24 - Sun, Sep 25
12-6 p.m., both days
Weekend: $20 advance, $30 door; 1-day is $13 advance
Annalee Newitz! Justin Hall! Charlie Anders! will be emceeing Webzine
2005, the premier revolutionary technology and DIY media event.
Hear one citizen journalist's tales of blogging from the war in Iraq and
the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Get psyched at a podcasting
panel and then follow through on that great idea at the how-to
workshop on Saturday. For those who want to be seen and heard, there
will be a videoblogging panel and workshop on Sunday. Learn more
about digital photography and media creation. Be entertained by tales
from the trenches of pornography, hacking, DIY media, fostering
community... there may even be a small discussion about blogs. Get
schooled!
Even if you think you're interested in just one panel, Webzine is
worth the ridiculously
low ticket price (advance: $13 day/$22 weekend). Where else can you
attend
a workshop on podcasting basics for just $13? This is a great community
of people, and you'll want to stick around for more than just a
workshop. This is a not for profit, 100 percent volunteer-run event.
**Advance ticket holders are invited to the Webzine 2005 kickoff
party, 8-10 p.m. Friday at Cafe du Nord, sponsored by sfist.com.**
