Award-winning book designer and typographer, JOHN D. BERRY, will talk on
"Shaping the news in the digital age: typography and image on modern
newsprint".

Berry is the author of "Contemporary Newspaper Design" and editor of
"U&lc: influencing design and typography." Both books, from Mark
Batty Publisher, will be available for sale.

Berry will show examples of newspaper redesign from around the world,
including work by some of the best-known publication designers,
and will comment on the trend toward smaller page size.


Arion Press publishes deluxe limited edition artist books. Located in
the Presidio, it operates the last fully functioning typefoundry
integrated with a letterpress shop & hand bookbindery in the nation,
as recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Arion
Press books designed by Andrew Hoyem were recognized in the 1994
Museum of Modern Art exhibition of the 100 great books of the 20th
century.
