On September 22, the NeoFiles Public Forum presents a panel on dance
culture (Rave culture). NeoFiles will present five individuals who
have been deeply involved in dance culture over several decades.

Originating from "Acid House" parties in Ibiza and "Techno" dance
parties in Goa, raves became the most dynamic digital counterculture of
the 1990s. First in England, then in the US, and then all over the
world, raves have become associated with peace-and-love idealism,
community, an embrace of technology, and psychedelic consciousness.
Ultimately DJs would become a regular presence in urban nightlife,
finding a place as an alternative to conventional rock and roll
performances.

Our panelists will talk about where this electronic dance culture has
been and where it's going; how it can live up to its ideals; what new
styles and forms are on the horizon; and what place recreational drugs
have in the dance culture scene.
