How Berkeley Can You Be?! Parade & Festival
Sun, Sep 25
11:00am-5:00pm
FREE
Come and help Berkeley celebrate itself in one of the most colorful, =
irreverent, free, and fun events on the west coast. The Tenth Annual =
"How Berkeley Can You Be?" Parade starts at the corner of California =
and University Avenue and proceeds up University Avenue to Shattuck, =
turns right on Shattuck to Center Street and then goes down Center =
Street two blocks, where it ends in Civic Center Park. Anywhere along =
that route is a fine place to watch the parade. Floats, bands, art =
cars, dancers, marching bands, art bikes, wacky rides, civic =
organizations, protesters (and protesters protesting them), animals, =
aliens, and who knows what???
Traffic on University Avenue is restricted so please take public =
transportation. The downtown Berkeley Bart station is on the parade =
route on Shattuck Avenue.
The Festival is the termination point for the Grand Parade at Civic =
Center Park, (Martin Luther King Park). Included in the Festival is =
an outdoor stage with wonderful live music and dance, a beer garden, =
food and drink booths, crafts, non-profits, and children's =
activities. This year's stage features an amazing lineup including:
ALBINO! (heavy heavy afrobeat) www.albinoband.com
Gun and Doll Show (Cirque du Chevrolet) www.gunanddollshow.com
=A1Lo Cura! (reggalicious flamenkito) locuramusic.us
Inspector Double Negative & The Equal Positives (Modern Hop Indigi- =
Noise) www.koolkyle.com
Join the fun - be as Berkeley as you can be! And yes, it is *very* =
Berkeley to say you're totally not Berkeley!
