"DOWN DOG" TO SCREEN AT SAN FRANCISCO WORLD FILM FESTIVAL
Richard Roll's award winning short film comedy DOWN DOG will make its
SF premiere as part of the upcoming SAN FRANCISCO WORLD FILM
FESTIVAL, September 29 - October 2, 2005.
DOWN DOG, a hilarious send up and celebration of Los Angeles "yoga
culture" and the cult of "guru celebrity" has played to enthusiastic
receptions at the Boulder International Film Festival (where it was
awarded BEST SHORT FILM, beating out "WASP" which went on to win the
Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film), DC Independent Film
Festival, Method Fest, Phoenix Film Festival, Waterfront Film
Festival, Maui and Tahoe / Reno International Film Festivals.
"As a former long-time resident of San Francisco, I'm very much
looking forward to sharing my labor of love with Bay Area film
enthusiasts" comments Roll about his film, which THE WASHINGTON POST
called "a little hit." The short film is adapted from Roll's feature
screenplay of the same name, which he hopes to have in production in
2006.
DOWN DOG will screen at 12:00 p.m. at the CINEARTS EMPIRE THEATRE, 85
West Portal Avenue in conjunction with the documentary on Burning Man
called "Dust Devils". In addition, the festival will be hosting a 5
minute yoga class in the theatre prior to the screening.
