Devil In The Deck
Fri, Sep 9 - Sun, Oct 2
8pm
$10-$25
Devil in the Deck is a decadent world of delightful magic, breath-
taking adventure, and torturous sleight-of-hand card tricks. Whisking
you into the twisted world of Jack Swindle, a man that makes his
living at dealing cards and cheating death.
Paul Nathan, a magician and storyteller, plays the notorious Jack
Swindle. Nathan weaves you in and out of his tale while never nodding
to the fact that most of these antidotes branch from his real life
escapades. He has lived a life uncommon and makes each moment into a
modern day fairytale. Guitar player John Anaya accompanies Paul on
stage, creating the soundtrack to romance, heartbreak, and
exploration through his blues and jazz infused tunes.
Paul pulls you into Jack's life making you feel every sensation;
drawing you into countless adventures. He runs with the bulls in
Pamplona, and you feel every vibration of the hoofs of these raging
animals as you run along side him on the cobble stone streets. He
falls in love with the beautiful Lizette, and you begin to love her
too; you can smell her perfume and you bask in the light of her
beautiful smile. When he becomes a dealer in a casino, you feel the
heartbreak of every loss and the exhilaration of every win. You
realize that all you want to do is play his game. You play, you win,
you play, you lose, never the less you play and slowly you become
unable to remember a time when you didn't play this game. The Devil
is the story. Tempting you at all times to seek out more passion and
whispering in your ear "adventure is all you need". He inspires you
to reinvent yourself and to create your own story. This show reminds
you that what you risk reveals what you value.
*****In light of the current situation in Louisiana and Mississippi
Paul Nathan has decided to make both preview nights of Devil In The
Deck benefit nights for those who's lives have been effected by
Hurricane Katrina. 100% of the proceeds from both preview nights will
go directly to the American Red Cross to support their efforts in the
hardest hit areas. We will also be offering free admission to all
those that bring in their "I Donated Blood" stickers. We will also be
giving 20% of the proceeds of the entire run of Devil In The Deck to
The American Red Cross, so if you are unable to make it this weekend
know that by seeing our show in the next month you will also be
helping with our efforts to support the Hurricane survivors. There
will also be a donation jar at the theater if you would like to make
and additional contribution. In times of tragedy we should all join
together to support those effected by disaster. Please enjoy a night
at the Climate Theater to support those less fortunate.******
