Peasants Trilogy I: Alpine Ballad

For the first time Bay Area movie buffs can see all 3 films of the
Peasants' Trilogy by veteran Swiss filmmaker Erich Langjahr.
Presented by the Goethe-Institut and Swiss Films the trilogy has been
shown at film festivals around the globe and received numerous awards.
Langjahr take a close look at farmers and their endangered existence
in an era of mass production and globalized markets. With his
insistent and unrelenting lens he reveals the problems of survival of
shepheards and Alpine dairy farmers with the backdrop of the
breathtaking Swiss Alpes.
Alpine Ballad/Sennenballade, the first of the three films, shows
stunning images of majestic mountains and serene pastures which
slowly draw you into the hardships of an Alpine dairy farmer and his
family. A unique cinematic experience!
