Free Shakespeare in the Park: Much Ado About Nothing
Sat, Sep 3 - Sat, Sep 24
Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2:30pm and Monday (the 5th) at 2:30pm
Free
Come out the Presidio with family and friends for an evening or
afternoon of free theater! Free Shakespeare in the Park, put on by
the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, is a wonderful tradition
which brings the classic works of Shakespeare to the beauty of the
Bay Area's outdoors! Arrive about an hour early to secure the best
seating, and bring a blanket, cushion, and/or low-back folding chair
for additional comfort while viewing the performance. Snacks and
beverages are available, and audience members are welcome to bring
their own picnics as well.
Everyone's favorite pair of bickering lovers will have it out at the
Presidio this summer in "Much Ado About Nothing." Kenneth Kelleher,
the Festival's Resident Director (2003's Love's Labour's Lost and
2004's Twelfth Night), will return to direct this popular comedy
about two sets of lovers who overcome misunderstandings to triumph in
love. Although the primary plot of the play concerns young Hero's
threatened engagement to Claudio, the more familiar sub-plot is that
of Hero's sassy cousin Beatrice and her tempestuous relationship with
her tart-tongued rival Benedick.
