On Friday, September 2, novelist, poet, feminist, the famed Michelle =20
Tea will be making a return to Santa Cruz at 7:00 p.m at the Wired =20
Wash Caf=E9. She will read from her latest collection of poetry, The =20
Beautiful and other prose.
The Beautiful is Tea's book of poems, written between 1994 and 1997, =20
published by Manic D Press (San Francisco). The book captures the =20
peak of her journey into poetry as she reveals, "That's when I =20
started writing poems in San Franciscohellip one or two poems a =20
dayhellip it was crazy!"
Michelle Tea is the author of four memoirs including the Lambda Award-=20=
Winning Valenica for Best Lesbian Fiction and the recent Rent Girl. =20
She has edited two poetry anthologies: Pills, Thrills, Chills and =20
Heartache (with Clint Catalyst) and Without A Net: The Female =20
Experience of Growing Up Working Class. Tea curates performance =20
events nationwide, most notably the notorious all-girl road show =20
Sister Spit and the Radar Reading Series at the San Francisco Public =20
Library.
The featured reading, followed by an Open Mic, promises to offer an =20
up close and personal view of a writer making her way toward =20
answering a world of intricate questions.
