The first in our Visiting Artist and Scholar Lecture Series for
2005-06 is the Inaugural Lecture from SFAI's new Dean of Academic
Affairs, Okwui Enwezor. With two highly influential international
exhibitions-Documenta 11 in Kasel, Germany and The Short Century:
Independence and Liberation Movements in Africa 1945-1994 at P.S. 1-
Okwui Enwezor altered the course of contemporary curatorial practice
by adding global emphasis and the input of scholars and artists to
shape and enhance the shows' theses. As SFAI's new Dean of Academic
Affairs, he'll bring his unique vision to arts education. This
Inaugural Lecture serves as Enwezor's public introduction to the San
Francisco art community.
