First Friday Art Walk Summer Series Features Nationally Renowned =20
Performers
Palo Alto Barbershop Harmony Society, "The Peninsulaires", to Perform =20=
at Lytton Plaza
A free concert featuring The Peninsulaires, a nationally renowned =20
twenty-member barbershop harmony society and Caf=E9 Harmonica, a five =20=
member world music ensemble, will be held Friday, August 5th from =20
6-9:00 pm at Lytton Plaza in Palo Alto. This free performance is =20
offered as part of the enhanced First Friday Summer Art Walk Series =20
continuing through September. The Art Walk is held on the first =20
Friday evening of each month from 6-9:00 pm.
A Tribute to Old Time Harmony
The Peninsulaires have been entertaining audiences in their nostalgic =20=
Americana style for more than forty years. According to band member =20
Jack Metz, "We're a barbershop quartet, only bigger. Whether they're =20=
young or old, this is the type of music that makes people smile". =20
The Peninsulaires have performed all over the country. Their next =20
scheduled appearance is in San Francisco, where they will sing the =20
national anthem at the August 20th Giants game.
Additional Events Scheduled for August
The August Art Walk will feature Art Cars among the scheduled =20
attractions. These delightful traveling sculptures are registered, =20
insured vehicles that have been permanently transformed by their =20
owners into mobile, public folk art.
Professional live music, art and entertainment will also be offered =20
as part of the program. Specialized outdoor vendors will be present, =20=
offering favorite summer treats. Participating art galleries and =20
businesses will continue to stay open late and many will host open-=20
invitation special events.

Participating arts groups include Arts India, ART21, Bryant Street =20
Gallery, Firehouse Gallery, Meadowlark Gallery, The Pacific Art =20
League, Torrefazione Italia Caf=E9, VOSHAN Gallery, Stellar-Somerset =20
Gallery, Jungle Copy, Kathleen Avery, University Art Annex and Vino =20
