Swimming Cities of Serenissima

Moses Grubb and Spy Emerson are hosting a Speakeasy at Ritual Roasters in San Francisco this Thursday, March 26th from 7-11pm. The event is a fundraiser for their involvement with Swimming Cities of Serenissima, a fleet of 3 handmade boats traveling the Adriatic Sea from the Karst region of Slovenia to Venice, Italy in May of 2009 in order to crash the Venice Biennale. The project, organized by New York printmaker and installation artist SWOON, is a follow up to Swimming Cities of Switchback Sea (Hudson River, 2008) and the Miss Rockaway Armada (Mississippi River, 2006 and 2007).

A classic big city speakeasy, featuring a stage show, specialty libations, a card table, and an auction by Flora Grubb. a hush hush event with lots of surprises. Speakeasy is a fundraiser benefiting Moses and Spy’s participation in the Swimming Cities of Serenissima project: a fleet of handmade boats and a crew of collaborating artists travel the Adriatic Sea from Slovenia to Venice, performing and propagating the dreamy story of a drifting metropolis designed by SWOON.
